Two more pedestrians are seriously injured after collisions with vehicles in Toronto.
They are the latest victims in a string of incidents that killed twelve pedestrians and injured a number of others in the GTA in the last three weeks.
A woman was hit by a car in the crosswalk at Carlingview Road and Dixon Road around 5:40 p.m. Sunday.
Police say a car was trying to make a left turn and struck the woman in her 40s.
Toronto Police Staff Sgt. Andy Schneider told CTV News that it was raining at the time.
The woman was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with serious head injuries.
Hours earlier, a 35-year-old man allegedly talking on a cellphone was struck by a streetcar.
Police say the man walked directly into its path.
He was hit by an eastbound Queen streetcar near Broadview Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
He is in critical condition in St. Michael's Hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
Police say the man was not at a marked crosswalk, though there was one less than 100 metres away.
The streetcar incident happened a few blocks south of where a 57-year-old man on crutches was killed by a dump truck Friday. Police say the pedestrian had the right-of-way.
A 25-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East area on Saturday night.
Police have not released the names of the victims.
