Toronto police have arrested two men on first-degree murder charges and are looking for three others in connection with the death of a man in the city's Portlands area.

Police descended on the Lakeshore Boulevard and Cherry Street area early Wednesday morning and found a bloodied trailer, evidence of what they believed to be a crime scene.

Earlier Wednesday, a lawyer called detectives at 51 Division after a client told him they could find a body in that area.

However, it took detectives some time to locate the body in a garbage bin in the yard outside the trailer.

Investigators believe five men beat another man to death, Homicide Det. Sgt. Gary Grinton told reporters at the scene.

"There was a dispute...and it resulted in what I believe five people killing one," Grinton said.

Grinton said the slaying took place three or four days ago.

Grinton said all the men involved, who he declined to identify, either live on the street or frequent the shelter system. The crime scene is a common place for squatters to set up makeshift homes, he said.

Police are expected to update their progress on the case later this afternoon.
