Toronto police have charged a TTC bus driver involved in a crash that claimed the life of a woman and injured 13 others in August.
Jadranka Petrova, 45, was killed when the bus rear-ended a crane truck on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Lawrence Avenue East and Railside Road, near the Don Valley Parkway exit.
Six other passengers were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, while four riders suffered minor injuries.
The bus was travelling westbound on Lawrence Avenue East when it collided with the crane truck, causing the truck to crash into the guardrail of the northbound Don Valley Parkway on-ramp.
A third vehicle was also struck by debris from the collision.
Last month, police said a drug test was not administered after the crash but confirmed that a small quantity of drugs had been discovered several hours after the incident.
"We did locate in his belongings a substance which we believe might be marijuana," Const. Carl Andersen said at the time.
The TTC later released a statement in September that said the driver had been relieved of his duties.
William Ainsworth, 51, of Toronto has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and possession of cannabis.
