As York University's strike passes the one week mark, the school has announced that some classes will resume on Wednesday.

In a statement released Tuesday night, York's vice president of academic and provost Rhonda Lenton said courses offered by the following departments will resume:

  • Lassonde School of Engineering
  • Schulich School of Business
  • School of Nursing
  • School of Administrative Studies in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies
  • School of Human Resources Management in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies

Lenton said a specific list of the courses that will resume on Wednesday is posted on the university's website. She adds that tutorials and labs for those courses may be affected.

Tuesday's announcement comes one day after two of three CUPE Local 3903 units representing the striking York workers rejected a new contract.

Nearly 1,300 of 3,728 members of the union cast their ballots in Monday's ratification vote.

The school's teaching assistants, research assistants and contract faculty workers walked off the job on March 3, and classes were cancelled.
