Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a Toronto police officer fired his gun and a 27-year-old man was shot in the torso.
According to the SIU, Toronto police were conducting an investigation in the Ontario and Gerrard Streets area at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening when the incident occurred.
The man was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The SIU investigates incidents involving police in which there has been a death, serious injury or a sexual assault.
