A second young offender is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a shooting death in the Rogers Road and Keele Street area last week.

Police responded to a gunshot call at 6:22 p.m. last Tuesday.

They found Danny Lewis, 19, mortally wounded in a laneway off Dunraven Drive. He had been shot in the back and buttocks.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument before the shooting.

Last Thursday, police in 12 Division appealed for help from the public. They were investigating the possibility that Lewis had first gotten into a minor argument with the two at a local community centre.

At that time, they had one 17-year-old  young offender in custody. He is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

Police arrested a second 17-year-old on Monday.

He is schedule to appear in a Finch Avenue West courthouse on Tuesday.

Provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibit the two offenders from being named.
