The Toronto Raptors have traded forward James Johnson to the Sacramento Kings for a second-round draft pick in 2014.
Johnson is set to make US$2.8 million next season in the final year of his contract.
"The addition of Landry Fields and Terrence Ross created some crowding at the wing positions," said Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo in a statement Monday.
"This move frees up minutes for our players under contract, increases our financial flexibility and opens up a roster spot to address other needs."
The Raptors acquired Johnson from the Chicago Bulls in Feb. 2011 for a first-round draft pick.
The six-foot-nine, 248-pounder averaged 9.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 25.2 minutes in 62 games last season.
Johnson was drafted 16th overall by Chicago in the 2009 NBA draft.
He has averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds during his career, although his numbers are skewed by low minutes in his first season and a half with the Bulls.
