Three-hundred protesters demonstrated against prayer in schools at the Toronto District School Board offices on Monday.
Faith-based groups including the Christian Heritage Party and the Jewish Defense League were among the protesters who rallied against Islamic prayer in Toronto public schools.
The controversy began when an imam was brought in three years ago to provide Friday prayer service to 300 Muslim students at Valley Park Middle School at Overlea Boulevard and Don Mills Road in North York.
Opponents said schools should be kept secular and others insisted religious accommodation should apply to all faiths.
About a dozen young Muslims showed up, showing support for the school board.
