Police are asking the public to keep their eyes out for a violent sex offender.

Toronto police said a 35-year-old woman was attacked in the Cosburn Avenue and Donlands Avenue area on Thursday after meeting up with a man in his home. Police said the man used a weapon and choked the victim to keep her from escaping.

“He’s at large and he has a tendency of violence so people have some concerns about the safety of others on the streets,” Det. Dan Luff told CTV Toronto. “Anyone that sees him, we would really like them to contact police. Do not approach him, he should be considered armed and dangerous.”

Police said the suspect is known to police and according to court documents his last address is listed as Kingston Penitentiary.

Toronto police say 47-year-old Walter Andrew MacDonald faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon and choking.

Anyone who sees MacDonald is asked not to approach him and call police immediately at 416-808-7474.

Tips can also be called into Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
