Toronto Police are seeking three individuals in connection with a seemingly random and cruel kidnapping for ransom that happened earlier this week.

At a news conference on Friday, police said a group of individuals allegedly grabbed a 24-year-old on the evening of April 13 from the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area of Toronto and drove him to Hamilton. They held him overnight.

"It almost appears that it's a random type of act, but obviously they would have to know who this individual was, or mistaken identity -- we're not sure at this time," Supt. Ron Taverner told reporters.

"It was determined the victim had been held and tortured. He'd been burned."

Several ransom demands were allegedly made, each larger than the last. The man's family contacted police, and the man was released back in the Toronto area. Taverner said no ransom was paid.

The victim had been burned with a clothing iron. He received serious burns but has been treated and is now home with his family and doing well.

The investigation continues, Taverner said.

Two arrests have been made so far in connection with this case -- a 30-year-old male and a 31-year-old male.

Jeffrey Glover, 30, of Toronto and Olewale Opeyemi, 38, of Brampton each face charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and threatening death. They were to appear in court on Thursday.

Police are seeking the following individuals:

  • Jason Dane Dillon, 25, of Toronto
  • Prince Ashley Lewers, 25, of Hamilton
  • Teri Dan Broomfield, 24, of Hamilton

Police say the suspects are considered dangerous and should not be approached.

"Police are also looking for a 1994 Acura Integra two-door, black, with Ontario licence BHMN 972," they said in a news release.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-2340, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637)."
