Police officer's finger severed on the job

Surgeons at Toronto Western Hospital are working to reattach the finger of a Toronto Police Service officer.

The finger got severed early Thursday while the officer entered a Weston Road building north of Black Creek Drive.

Police say the injury did not happen as the result of any interaction with a suspect.

Toronto Western has a world-class hand surgery unit.
