A high school in North York was evacuated on Thursday morning after pepper spray was released inside the building.
Emergency crews were called to C.W. Jefferys Collegiate at about 9 a.m. after reports of a noxious substance in the air.
A hazardous materials team entered the school as coughing students and staff were being evacuated.
Officials determined the substance to be pepper spray, and said it did not pose a threat.
Students and staff were allowed back inside the school about an hour later.
C.W. Jefferys is the school where 15-year-old student Jordan Manners was shot to death in May.
