Peel Public Health is investigating a Brampton pizzeria after it received a complaint this week. The restaurant is the same one featured in a photo that appears to show a barefoot child lying on a counter.
A spokesperson for the region's environmental health department, Janet Eagleson, could not confirm to CTVNews.ca if the complaint was linked to the photo but said they received the complaint "very recently," either Sunday or Monday.
Cocelli Pizza is located on Van Kirk Drive, near Sandalwood Parkway West.
The photo of the barefoot child in that restaurant was posted on Facebook Saturday by Ian Shirley. "Can someone please tell me I’m not going mad and it's not OK for a kid to be barefoot standing and lying on the counter of this pizzeria in Brampton!!!???" he writes in the caption.
A video of an employee arguing with a customer about the barefoot child was also posted on YouTube last month. In the video, the customer can be heard saying that the "child is still walking around barefoot."
According to the region's most recent inspection on Nov. 20, 2014, Cocelli Pizza received a passing grade.
