TORONTO - Though polls suggest Premier Dalton McGuinty is headed for a victory in Wednesday's Ontario election, NDP Leader Howard Hampton says the race is not over yet.
Speaking at a campaign event in east-end Toronto, Hampton said McGuinty is acting like he has already won the election and is now avoiding voters and the issues.
Hampton says the last two days of the campaign are the most important, and voters still have the power to `deny Dalton McGuinty the blank cheque he's trying to get.'
The issue of McGuinty's broken promises was raised again and Hampton suggested voters shouldn't vote for someone they don't trust.
Hampton says the cost of keeping the dozens of promises McGuinty has made during the campaign would be more than $26 billion dollars, and there's no way he could spend that without raising taxes.
The New Democrat leader also suggested Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory's campaign has been disastrous, due to his `obsession' with faith-based schools.
