TORONTO - NDP Leader Howard Hampton is urging Liberal and Conservative voters to choose his party instead to stop Premier Dalton McGuinty from being re-elected.

Hampton brushed off recent polls suggesting the Liberals are headed for victory, saying many voters are uncomfortable with McGuinty and don't trust him.

He says his strategy in the campaign's final days will be to remind voters of McGuinty's broken promises and urge them to vote NDP to stop him.

Speaking in a Toronto hotel room packed with supporters, Hampton again slammed Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory - who's faced controversy over his faith-based school funding proposal - as being a poor alternative to McGuinty.

Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton holds up the party's victory in a Quebec byelection last month as proof momentum is building for the party across Canada.

Hampton heads to northern Ontario Saturday afternoon to support an NDP candidate running against Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay.
