A man in his late 20s suffered serious injuries after falling into the Niagara Gorge, just north of the Rainbow Bridge, early Sunday morning.

Police said the 27-year-old London, Ont. man had fallen 30 feet into the Gorge after trying to get a better view of the Niagara Falls with his friends.

Emergency workers arrived at approximately 5:45 a.m. and extricated the man. He suffered a head injury and a serious leg fracture.

Police said charges under the Niagara Parks Act of Ontario are pending.
