NEWMARKET, Ont - A man accused of killing three people, including his wife, and burning their bodies in a van north of Toronto was remanded into custody following a court appearance Wednesday.

On Oct. 14, Bao Mac, 46, was found severely burned in King Township near a van on fire, with three charred bodies found inside.

One of the bodies has been identified as Mac's wife, and the condition of the other two is so poor that forensic experts are still working on positively identifying them.

It's presumed the bodies of an adult female and young girl are those of Mac's 22-year-old stepdaughter and four-year-old daughter, who are missing.

All three victims were shot to death before the van was set on fire.

Mac was charged with three counts of first-degree murder on Nov. 4, after he awakened from a drug-induced coma, and following Wednesday's court appearance he will appear next on Dec. 6 in Newmarket.
