York region police have issued an arrest warrant for a husband wanted in the deaths of three family members found inside a burned van north of Toronto last week.
Bao "Kenny" Mac, 46, is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder. The Toronto resident was found screaming at the scene suffering from serious burns to his body.
The suspect is still sedated in hospital. Police say he will be charged when he regains consciousness.
One of the bodies was identified on Tuesday as Mac's 47-year-old wife, Zu Ling He. Police believe the other two victims, who have yet to be positively identified because they were badly burned, are the woman's 22-year-old stepdaughter and four-year-old daughter.
Autopsy results released on Tuesday showed all three victims died of gunshot wounds.
The bodies were found inside a charred minivan on a rural road in King Township on Oct. 14.
Investigators traced the vehicle's licence plate to a home in northeast Toronto, where a marijuana grow operation was discovered in the basement. Police said they don't believe the grow-op is linked to the deaths, but rather, the grisly case is a domestic incident.
Officers had attended the home in the past to settle domestic fights. Those prior dealings led them to treat the case as a triple homicide.
It's believed the victims were shot at the home and then taken to King Township before being set ablaze.
