Two children were found inside a Newmarket home when police busted a marijuana grow operation and found several hundred plants.

York Region police said more than 350 plants were recovered during a search of the London Road home's basement on Wednesday morning.

Two children, aged 10 and 12, were taken into the care of the Children's Aid Society, police said.

Two men were arrested and charged with production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They were to appear in court on Friday.
