TORONTO - The head of Toronto's transportation authority is brushing off suggestions that the provincial government's recent spate of funding announcements has anything to do with this fall's election.
Greater Toronto Transportation Authority chairman Rob MacIsaac says transportation issues transcend partisan politics.
He says all political parties will need "substantial transportation platforms'' heading into the election.
Premier Dalton McGuinty recently pledged $11.5 billion for public transit.
Opposition parties have accused the Liberals of campaigning on the taxpayers' dime by making billions of dollars in announcements since the legislature was adjourned June 5, three weeks ahead of schedule.
MacIsaac, who was speaking at a Toronto Board of Trade luncheon, declined to endorse any party's transit plan.
