The "big three" parties in the Ontario election have platforms that support French Catholic education, according to the results of a board-issued questionnaire.
But two other party agendas don't back the province's French Catholic schools, a board official said on Friday.
A French Catholic school association recently sent out questionnaires to provincial parties to clarify their positions and use the information to educate parents before they go to the polls on Oct. 10.
The questionnaire found the Liberal party, the Progressive Conservative party, and the New Democratic Party all planned to revise the current funding formula and invest in education.
"All support current system of funding for French school boards, with the exception of some minor variations," L'Association Franco-Ontarienne des Conseils Scolaires Catholiques representative Robert Tremblay said.
The Green Party and Ontario Confederation of Regions Party platforms, however, caught Tremblay off-guard -- he says they both jeopardize French Catholic education.
"I don't think it's surprising, but the Green Party didn't respond to our questionnaire," Tremblay said.
"We had a look at their platform, and they really don't mention French language education. They (also) push for the end of Catholic education, which is really an affront to our rights."
More than 72,000 students are currently enrolled in French Catholic schools across the province.
