The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled infielder Russ Adams, a former first-round draft pick who has not played in the majors in two years.

The 28-year-old was called up from the minors after Saturday's game, to replace Joe Inglett, who was sent back to the Toronto's triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas.

Adams has been playing in the minors since 2007. So far this year, he has batted .319 in Las Vegas, hitting nine home runs in only 72 at-bats.

Toronto made Adams its first-round pick in the 2002 draft.

In 278 career baseball games, all with the Blue Jays, Adams has batted .248, scored 123 runs and swatted 17 home runs.
