A Toronto man has died in hospital after being gunned down Tuesday in the city's east end.

He was taken to Scarborough General Hospital following a shooting outside Midland Car Wash, at 1566 Midland Ave. That location is about 400 metres north of Lawrence Avenue East.

The victim's age isn't known yet. He is Toronto's 27th homicide victim of 2010.

First reports indicated he had been shot in the upper shoulder. However, there were multiple shots fired.

The suspect fled the scene and no weapon has been found, police said. They have no description of the suspect at this point. However, they are interviewing witnesses at 41 Division.

Midland Avenue between Ellesmere and Lawrence Avenues have been re-opened to traffic.
