TORONTO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats revamped their offensive line Thursday.

The Ticats released sophomore Zac Carlson, then acquired third-year pro Brian Ramsay from the Toronto Argonauts for a 2011 fourth-round draft pick and conditional 2013 selection.

The six-foot-seven, 298-pound Ramsay, a native of Victoria, spent three seasons in Toronto after being selected in the fifth round, 39th overall, of the '06 CFL Canadian college draft. The former New Mexico star has appeared in 51 career games, including 33 as a starter.

Ramsay comes to Hamilton after the Argos signed former Ticats offensive lineman Cedric Gagne-Marcoux as a free agent in the off-season.

Carlson, obtained by Hamilton in last year's CFL supplemental draft, was among three players released Thursday as the Ticats reduced their roster to 46 players by the 3 p.m. ET deadline. Also let go were Canadian defensive linemen Yahia Dalloul and Stan van Sichem.

The Ticats had high hopes for the six-foot-four, 300-pound Carlson when they selected him in supplemental draft. As a result of the move, Hamilton forfeited its first-round pick in what was a very deep 2010 Canadian College Draft.

It was a calculated gamble on Hamilton's part as Carlson lost his final season of NCAA eligibility at Weber State after testing positive for marijuana. He spent much of last season on the CFL club's injured list.

When Carlson reported to training camp, he was in a battle for a roster spot as the Ticats had eight Canadian offensive linemen on their roster.

The Ticats shuffled their offensive line as American tackle Jason Jimenez will miss at least Hamilton's season opener in Winnipeg on July 2 with a knee injury.
