One of Honest Ed’s famed signs have been stolen and the store’s management team is offering a reward to help get it back.

In royal blue paint, the seven-feet high and three-feet wide stolen sign reads, “Honest Ed’s pharmacy professional services since 1960.”

The store is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who returns the hand-painted wooden sign to its store at Bathurst Street and Bloor Street West.

General manager Russell Lazar issued a press release Monday afternoon to raise awareness about the stolen sign. He said the police have been notified and will be looking into it.

“We at Honest Ed’s are very disappointed that this theft took place,” Lazar says.

Many have been scrambling to buy signs and other relics from Honest Ed’s before the store officially closes its doors this December. The discount store is a Toronto landmark, easily recognizable with its lit up marquee sign, and has been a community staple in the Annex since it was founded by Ed Mirvish in 1948.

The store had been selling its vintage signs for as cheap as $2 to as high as $100.

Online, however, some people are reselling the signs for $100 to $600 on Kijiji.

Honest Ed’s is asking anyone with information on the stolen sign to come forward with information.
