Pop icon Prince has announced that he has added a Toronto date to his pop-up "HitnRun" tour.

The surprise gig is set to take place Tuesday night at the Toronto Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday at 12 p.m. eastern time at Live Nation.

The "HitnRun" tour kicked off in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday night. The set list, according to reviewers, included some old hits such as "When Doves Cry," "Nothing Compares to You," "Lil Red Corvette," "I Would Die 4 U," "Kiss," "1999.”

Prince concerts are often surprise events in Toronto, where the pop star once lived. Fans lined up in November outside Massey Hall for a rumoured concert that failed to materialize.

Canadian guitarist Donna Grantis is one of the members of his backing band on this tour. She’s joined in 3rdeyegirl by American drummer Hannah Ford and Danish bassist Ida Nielson.
