A 29 year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while allegedly running from a cop in the city’s downtown core early Sunday morning.

The man was travelling in a cab along Adelaide Street when he got into a fare dispute with the driver, who then pulled over to involve an officer on foot patrol.

The man then allegedly exited the cab and ran eastbound on Adelaide Street with the officer in pursuit.

At some point the man entered the roadway and was struck by another cab somewhere near Duncan Street.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be serious and police say he will be brought to 52 Division to face charges.

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating.

The SIU is mandated to investigate whenever a civilian is seriously injured or killed while in the presence of police.
