MARKHAM, Ont. - York regional police say 27 people are facing a total of 75 prostitution-related charges following a raid on a Markham, Ont., massage parlour.
Police say the drugs and vice unit executed a search warrant late last Friday night at Delux Club and made 27 arrests.
Since then, four additional warrants were executed at homes in Toronto and the communities of Aurora and Echo Point.
Police say cash and documents relating to the operation of Delux Club were seized.
Included in the 27 arrests were five alleged bawdy house keepers, 15 inmates and seven other people found inside.
Police say despite a recent Superior Court decision regarding potential changes to the prostitution laws, existing legislation is still in force.
