A woman who was struck and killed by a snow plow during Sunday's snowstorm in Ontario has been identified.
Amber Verdoni of Mississauga, Ont. was killed in front of her two children Sunday afternoon when she parked under an overpass to fix a windshield wiper on her van.
A snow plow clipped the van and pinned Verdoni against the bridge. The 50-year-old woman died on the scene.
Her children were inside the van at the time of the accident but escaped injury. They were treated in a London, Ont. hospital for shock as was the driver of the snow plow.
The accident was one of 800 on GTA roads the Ontario Provincial Police had to respond to during the massive storm. Roads were treacherous throughout the province as up to 50 centimetres of snow fell in some regions.
Verdoni's accident was the only fatal tragedy.
