A stabbing at Wilson subway station has left a man wounded and the station temporarily closed for a police investigation.
Staff Sgt. Randall Lee of Toronto Police Service's 32 Division told ctvtoronto.ca on Thursday that all he can confirm is that a man was found at the lower level with injuries to his abdomen.
The injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening. The 29-year-old man has been taken to hospital, he said.
Police are investigating. They are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security camera footage, he said.
The TTC announced shortly before 5 p.m. that the Yonge-University line will be shut down between Downsview and Yorkdale stations for the time being. Shuttle buses were being used to ferry subway riders.
The subway reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Bus traffic has now reopened.
Transit security has been in the news in recent weeks, with the most shocking incident being a morning shooting at Osgoode subway station on Jan. 22.
About a week later, the Toronto Police Service announced it had received federal funds that would allow it to add 36 officers to focus on traffic and transit.
A pair of back-to-back robberies of TTC collectors last week had the TTC and police saying they would step up patrols in the system.
