Two men were shot early Sunday morning after an altercation in the city's entertainment district, police said.
Officers were called to the area of Richmond and Duncan streets just before 3 a.m. and found a 20-year-old man shot in the chest and groin, sitting in a pool of blood outside Seven Lounge, the Toronto Star reported.
He was taken to St. Michael's Hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
The incident began as a fight inside the club and later escalated outside before a man began shooting, Det. Brad Brigham told the Star.
"It started in Union (Lounge). It was broken up, and then it started on the street again," Brigham said.
A 21-year-old man was found about half a block away from the fist victim. He had been shot in the wrist and was expected to be released from hospital on Sunday.
A man was seen running from the scene of the shooting, Brigham said. Investigators believe both victims were shot with the same weapon.
The suspect was described as a non-white male with braided hair who was wearing a long white long coat and light-coloured baseball hat. He was seen running south.
It is not yet clear what started the fight inside the club.
The intersection of Richmond and Duncan was closed for much of the early morning as detectives combed the scene.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 416-808-5200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
