Two men were killed after a shooting in a Hamilton home Tuesday night in what police described as a hostage situation.
Tactical officers responded mid-afternoon to reports of a shooting at a house on Tragina Avenue in the city's east end.
After surrounding the home, police entered and were able to pull out a man who had been shot in the chest. The victim later died in hospital.
Two women who managed to flee the house unharmed told police the shooter was still inside. After trying and failing to establish contact, officers entered at about 7:30 p.m. and found the man dead.
The cause of his death, or the identities of the men, have not yet been released.
The province's Special Investigations Unit is probing the incident.
Police said no officers fired their weapons during the ordeal.
