Toronto's public transit system is reaching out to the public to discuss how anticipated route changes would affect its customers.
The Toronto Transit Commission announced on Wednesday four public meetings to be held later this month to discuss how changes to 48 underutilized bus routes would affect its customers.
The changes were first announced at a TTC board meeting on Jan. 12, but the final decision was deferred until Feb. 2.
The TTC says by reallocating services along underused routes they will be able to improve the efficiency of routes where ridership is expected to increase.
The TTC anticipates a record-level ridership of 487 million in 2011.
The meetings will be held:
- Monday, January 24 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Metro Hall, 55 John Street, Room 308/309.
- Tuesday, January 25 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at North York Central Library, Memorial Hall, 5120 Yonge St.
- Wednesday, January 26 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Scarborough Civic Centre, Rotunda, 150 Borough Drive.
- Thursday, January 27 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Elmbank Community Centre, lower level, 10 Rampart Road, southeast corner of Finch Avenue West and Martin Grove Road.
