The Toronto Transit Commission is offering a $25,000 reward for information into the shooting of a ticket collector earlier this year.
The reward was announced on Tuesday, as the TTC and Toronto police urged the public to come forward and assist in the investigation into the February 26 incident.
On that day at about 7:30 p.m. a masked suspect approached the collector booth at Dupont Station and brandished a gun, in what appears to have been a failed robbery attempt.
The suspect left the booth empty-handed, before turning back toward the ticket collector and firing three shots through the glass.
The suspect fled the scene through the subway station's northwest exit and was last seen at the corner of Dupont Street and Spadina Road.
The ticket collector was struck twice and later rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains off the job as he recovers from the injuries.
The $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect is the first-ever monetary reward offered by the TTC.
"If this is what it takes to get someone to come forward and jog someone's memory and jog someone's conscience then I think that is fine. That is money well spent," TTC CEO Andy Byford said about the reward during a Tuesday press conference.
In a press release on Tuesday, the TTC called the shooting a brazen and cowardly act.
