Drivers who park their vehicles in TTC lots after 3 p.m. may no longer be getting a free ride from the Toronto Transit Commission.
The TTC is considering ending free evening parking, a popular draw for riders travelling into Toronto after work.
A report to be submitted to the agency next week recommends charging drivers $2 for parking in a TTC lot after 3 p.m.
The charge could increase revenue by approximately $408,000 for the cash-strapped TTC, according to the report.
More revenue could benefit the commission, which has a 2012 budget calling for service reductions in response to a city request that all departments cut their budgets by 10 per cent.
If adopted by the TTC, the charges will take effect on Jan. 1 at 20 of 30 TTC-operated lots.
Approximately 2,680 vehicles use the TTC's free commuter parking lots between Monday and Friday.
