There will be shorter wait times for public transit users in Toronto.

The Toronto Transit Commission has announced a service boost to 93 bus routes in order to reduce wait times and cut overcrowding.

The TTC says because of the service boost, commuters will never have to wait longer than 30 minutes for a bus.

Funds will also be spent on refurbishing 52 buses and buying 130 new hybrid buses in 2009.

The service boost is being called the biggest increase in more than 30 years.

This is the second major service increase this year. Back in February, the TTC announced a similar expansion, adding service to 77 bus and streetcar routes.

About 465 million people ride the TTC each year.
