A Toronto police officer has been charged with two counts of sexual assault following an investigation by Ontario’s police watchdog.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit said Thursday it investigated two incidents involving a 37-year-old woman and determined that charges should be laid against the officer.
Toronto Police Services contacted the SIU after complaints were made against the officer. The alleged sexual assaults took place on May 25 and Aug. 10., the SIU said.
Const. Rodney Barr is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Nov. 13.
“As this matter is now before the courts, and in consideration of the fair trial interests of the charged officer and the community, the SIU will make no further comment pertaining to this investigation,” the SIU said in a news release.
