A Toronto police officer has been charged with sexual assault for an alleged off-duty incident involving a woman he met through an online dating service.
The officer met the woman at a coffee shop on Sunday and is alleged to have sexually assaulted her a short time later, the Toronto Police Service said in a news release issued Wednesday.
The service said it was made ware of the alleged incident on Monday.
On Wednesday, the accused officer surrendered himself to investigators at 14 Division.
Const. Gaganpreet Singh Grewal, 26, has been charged with sexual assault. He has one year with the service and works out of 23 Division.
He is to appear in court at Old City Hall on Dec. 29.
