Some 6.5 million people across the province are expected to receive another HST rebate cheque over the next week, CTV Toronto has learned.

Ontarians who qualify for the rebate will receive the cheques between Friday and Dec. 17. Singles will receive $100, while families will receive as much as $335.

It’s the second round of rebate payments of the year. The first took place in June, as Queen’s Park moved to implement the HST on July 1.

Together, the provincial government is spending $4 billion on the rebates.

The cheques are supposed to help compensate Ontarians for the introduction of the new tax.

The 13-per cent HST combines the Goods and Services Tax with the Provincial Sales Tax.
