  • Two men are in police custody after a shooting near Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Road late last night.
  • Police are searching for a suspect following a fatal hit-and-run at Gerrard Street and George Street during rush hour yesterday.  

WEATHER WATCH:

Many parts of the GTA remain under a special weather statement ahead of a system that could bring 20mm-40mm of rain. Showers and risk of a thunderstorm are in the forecast this afternoon with winds becoming southwest and gusting up to 50km/h. A high of 26 degrees is expected, feeling like 34 degrees with the humidity.

TRAFFIC WOES:

  • Dufferin Street is down to one lane Northbound and Southbound between Queen Street West and Peel Avenue due to construction.
  • Richmond Street East is reduced to one lane heading Westbound between Church Street and York Street due to track replacement and road repairs.  

AROUND TOWN:

  • MLSE Foundation and their partners launch the fifth year of their KickStart program today at 3:15PM at Downsview Park. It aims to teach over 300 kids fair play, teamwork and leadership skills.  
  • The Canada 55+ Games kick off tonight at 5:00PM with an Opening Ceremony at the Powerade Centre in Brampton.
