A former teacher from Peterborough just got the retirement upgrade package, winning $24 million in Lotto 649.
Audrey Dawe won the money on Jan. 31, but came to Toronto Thursday to collect her winnings. She told reporters she hasn't made any big plans for her money yet, but that she wants to share it with her family.
Dawe isn't the first from her region to win big -- she isn't even the first in the last month. Peterborough's Larry McAuliffe split a $37,344,184 win with his sister from British Columbia on Jan. 2. More recently, Peterborough resident Jean Portsmith won herself a cool $50,000 on an Instant Bingo ticket she received as a gift.
