An Ontario Provincial Police search by air and water followed after the boy was thrown from a boat that hit the large wake of another boat around 6:15 p.m.

Despite a frantic search by those on board, the boy, who was a strong swimmer, but was not wearing a life jacket, could not be found.

The search concluded Sunday afternoon when a body was located in the Trent River near Blue Roof Road in the Campbellford area.

Saturday's drowning is one of at least six such incidents to be reported since last week.
