Ontario Provincial Police will be out in full force this Civic Day long weekend cracking down on impaired drivers, speeders and those not wearing seatbelts.
Police expect the 400-series highways to be jam-packed with people either heading to cottages or driving to Toronto to attend various events.
The Caribana festival will be in full swing this weekend. The event draws more than 1 million people annually.
Lakeshore Boulevard West will be closed to traffic between Strachan Avenue and Colborne Lodge as a result.
There are a number of sporting events this weekend in Toronto as well. Toronto FC play on Sunday and the Blue Jays play at home to Texas.
About 1 million vehicles are expected to leave the city this weekend.
