A Toronto police sergeant is in hospital in serious but stable condition after he was involved in a crash with a TTC bus in North York.
The officer was responding to a call at the York University campus at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday when his cruiser collided with the bus near Finch and Driftwood Avenues.
The force of the impact sent the cruiser into a hydro pole. Power lines crashed down onto the bus, and passengers were trapped inside for a while until the electricity could be cut.
The unidentified officer was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with serious head injuries.
The cruiser's lights and sirens were activated at the time of the crash.
