Police in York Region have identified a suspect wanted following a double stabbing in Newmarket that left one man dead and another seriously wounded Wednesday night.
The violent incident occurred near Davis Drive and Huron Heights Drive at about 10:30 p.m.
At the time, witnesses told police that three male suspects may have fled in a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle.
A 65-year-old Newmarket man died in the incident and a second man, believed to be in his 40s, remains in hospital after undergoing surgery.
The deceased has been identified by police as Ronidy Roseborough, of Newmarket.
In a press release issued Friday afternoon, police identified a suspect wanted in connection with the double stabbing.
John Jansen, 38, of Bradford, is wanted for first-degree murder.
He is described by police as white, five-foot-six, 120 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and several tattoos on both arms.
Investigators are urging Jansen to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.
Police consider Jansen extremely violent and say he should not be approached if spotted.
