BOWMANVILLE, Ont. - Police believe they have new evidence that might help identify a woman whose remains were found in a field near Bowmanville, Ont., four years ago.

The original search area was quite large, but investigators decided to expand the search area even further in hopes of finding other items.

Homicide and forensic officers have been combing a broader area since early November, in their efforts to locate additional evidence.

The search unearthed new artifacts that police say may be related to the case, including a women's gold ring and a piece of clothing identified as a unique multi-coloured shirt.

Durham regional police say the shirt has a "Blue Rodeo" brand name tag.

In addition, investigators have now been able to create a DNA profile of the unnamed woman, although no matches have been made.
