TORONTO - The opposition parties are again urging Premier Dalton McGuinty to recall the legislature in light of mounting job losses they say point to a deepening economic crisis.

Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory says the governing Liberals need to come clean about whether the province is headed for a deficit.

He says the economic landscape has changed dramatically since the Liberals released their spring estimates, but there's been no word yet on how the government will deal with it.

New Democrat Peter Kormos says the Liberals should be ashamed to be on vacation or on pricey trips to promote Ontario when it's clear the province is in crisis.

A spokesman for Finance Minister Dwight Duncan says the government's forecasts show the province is on track with its spring budget plan, and they'll provide another update in the fall.

Statistics Canada says Ontario and Quebec were the hardest-hit provinces in July, with Ontario losing 19,000 jobs.

The province lost 41,000 manufacturing jobs in July, but the unemployment rate actually dropped to 6.4 per cent from 6.7 per cent because an estimated 42,000 people left the job market.
