GEORGIAN BLUFFS, Ont. -- A southern Ontario man who wanted to feed raccoons ended up luring a much bigger beast.
Provincial police say a bear broke into the man's home in Georgian Bluffs, near Owen Sound, early Friday morning by prying open a window.
The noise led the 79-year-old man to lock himself in the bedroom and call police.
He then sounded an air horn, which sent the bear scampering away before officers arrived.
Police say the man had been leaving food out for raccoons.
They warn leaving food or garbage in the open can attract bears.
