Toronto police have issued first-degree murder warrants for two suspects in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting earlier this month in the city's west end.
Police believe Anthony Grant, 21, of Brampton, and Devon Vivian, 20, of Toronto, fled the country following the June 9 murder of 19-year-old Jose Hierro Saez in Rexdale.
"I have information that both these men fled Canada very shortly after the murder for Jamaica, however there is a reasonable chance they could sneak back into Canada," Det. Sgt. Gary Grinton said at a news conference Wednesday.
Both suspects are also facing four counts each of attempted murder in connection to the shooting on John Garland Boulevard, near Kipling Avenue.
A fight at a local flea market between two groups of men triggered one group to follow the vehicle Saez was riding in and then open fire on the residential street in broad daylight.
Saez, who lived in the Jamestown complex, died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Three other men riding in Saez's car were also hit by gunfire, but they survived.
The suspects drove away in a silver or grey 1999 Mercedes ML430. Police have still not located the vehicle or the firearm used.
Investigators still don't know any more details about what sparked the initial fight.
Police said Grant was born in Canada but has family in Jamaica. Detectives were not able to contact Vivian's relatives.
Both suspects are believed to have parents living in the Toronto area.
Police consider the men to be dangerous and warn residents not to approach them.
Grinton said tips from the community led them to the identities of the suspects.
Police are urging Grant and Vivian to contact a lawyer and surrender.
