A 35-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with second-degree murder in Peel Region's first homicide of the year.
Police were called to an apartment building at 2417 Hurontario St., near The Queensway, just after 6 a.m. Thursday after a report of a man suffering from trauma.
Officers found the body of 45-year-old Bafia Wladyslaw, of no fixed address. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the victim and the accused knew each other and had been drinking heavily the night before. Police believe a fight broke out between the two some time on Wednesday night, and Wladyslaw suffered fatal injuries.
Police wouldn't comment if a weapon was used in the slaying. An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was scheduled for Friday.
Roman Paszkowski was arrested at the scene and charged.
